Wellness Wednesdays: Simple Turmeric Apple Cider Vinegar Tea Recipe
I was feeling good and pretty proud of myself that I hadn't gotten sick in awhile. With all the traveling and new people I'm meeting all the time, it's surprising that I lasted this long. But... I had spoken too soon and got hit last week with an awful cold or something like a cold. Fever, runny nose, foggy brain and headaches. I'm on the better end of it, I think, but after going through this illness, I'm back on my turmeric and apple cider vinegar tea. I would say it's an "acquired taste" much like kombucha. It's pretty vinegary but now I really like the taste and it has a lot of great health benefits. With this combo of turmeric, apple cider vinegar and honey, you'll get all these health benefits in one mug:
- antioxidant properties
- anti-inflammatory
- helps with digestion
- provides as a support for your gut (which is super important!)
- aids in blood sugar control
- boosts immune system
- contains antibacterial properties
I was slacking for awhile but now I'm motivated to kick this illness and stay healthy the rest of the summer! Here's a really simple tea you can make at home. I typically make it after dinner or at night before heading to bed.
There are a few turmeric blends out there but currently I'm using Jarrow's Golden Tea Turmeric Infusion with Warming Spices. It's yummy and has additional goodness added to it to make it taste even more delicious and to help the turmeric absorb.
I also use Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar - because it's the best. I've found you can get it in most grocery stores.
This blend that I use is great, but if you don't have the turmeric infusion blend and want to make this right away with what you might have in your home. You can use plain turmeric too! Just be sure to add some fresh ground black pepper along with a little bit of coconut oil. The pepper and oil will help make it possible for your body to absorb the good and healthy properties in the turmeric!
